HLRCC Building Expansion

On May 27, 2025, The Harold Leever Regional Cancer Center began a major, three-phase building expansion project designed to enhance the facility and improve the experience and care provided to patients and their families.

During this time, patients and visitors may notice increased construction activity onsite. We ask for your patience and understanding as we work to improve our space.

Phase 1, now underway, involves expanding the front of the building, including doubling the conference space, adding two offices to the back of the library, and constructing a second floor that will serve as a new infusion space for the Trinity Health of New England Oncology Center.

Phase 2 will include a renovation and refresh of common areas, including main corridors on the first and second floors, and relocating the meditation center and Reflections Boutique to accommodate a new waiting area with floor-to-ceiling glass, offering direct views of Leever’s beautiful gardens.

In Phase 3, the HLRCC will replace central plant items, including HVAC units and boilers, to meet modern standards and improve efficiency.

As part of this transition, several monthly support groups will be impacted after May 13, 2025.

  • Living with Stage 4/Incurable Cancer Support Group: last meeting, May 13, 1:30–3 p.m.
  • Greater Waterbury Area Ostomy Support Group will now meet in the main reception area
  • The Art Therapy Cancer Support Group will now be held the second and fourth Tuesday of every month from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. at Family & Children’s Aid, 30 Holmes Avenue, Waterbury. To register, call 203-790-6568 x109 or emailclientservices@annsplace.org.
  • HOPE Support group will continue to meet on the first and third Tuesdays of the month, meeting location has been changed to the PETCT waiting area.

We encourage patients to check our online events calendar for updates and additional resources.

The HLRCC remains open during renovations, continuing to provide compassionate, high-quality care throughout the expansion period.
